Upward Lightning hits tower 10 times
Date filmed: April 10, 2009
Location: St. Albans, West Virginia
Source: HDV 1080i
Speed: Realtime
Class: HD Premium Severe Weather

Description: Another great footage sequence disproving the 'lightning never strikes twice' myth. Ten lightning bolts repeatedly strike this television tower in a span of about 35 minutes during a thunderstorm passing over St. Albans, West Virginia. This sequence also demonstrates the upward-moving 'ground-to-cloud' lightning type common with tall towers and skyscrapers, evidenced by the intricate upward branching (as opposed to downward branching common with normal 'cloud-to-ground' strikes).
